For the past few years, I have been building hope chests for my nieces when they get to their sweet 16th birthdays. The story was so interesting, that the folks at Popular Woodworking asked for me to write a series of articles about the effort.
It’s going to be a four-part series that can be found at their woodworking daily blog page. So far, there is a post about the introduction and about my niece Carolina’s hope chest, with two more parts coming next week.
I hope you enjoy reading them.
What journeyman jig did you use from Keller?
The 1500… it was easy to use…
I have actually been thinking about buying a Keller. I am building a toybox/future hope chest right now and I wanted dovetails or finger joints. Would you mind telling me your dimensions of your hope chests or will the details of the hope chest be revealed in a later article? I think this would be an awesome project for you to write an article on. Basically a how to.
Tom:
I like your idea, but mine will be for granddaughter and not that many yours away.
My question is what are the dimensions of the Hope Chest and is there a small drawer inside? Also did you line it?
Thank You
Hey, Monte –
No drawers in either one.. Nor any liner…
They are both about 3 feet wide by 2 feet tall by 20 inches deep….
