  1. Dogwood. That is, if it is old enough to have colour in it. I’m extremely surprised that Red Oak is more popular so far than White Oak.

  2. Antique chestnut. Does brass count. Really don’t care for just wood pieces. Embellishing with patinated brass really works nicely. Plus I can use most woodworking tools to machine the brass.

  3. My favorite flavor right now would have to be butternut. It gives off a wonderfull look when finished with oil. It machines easy and does not weigh a ton.
