The weekly plan

About.com’s Portable Miter Saw Stand

Powered miter saws are handy tools to have in the shop. From cutting lumber down to size to executing compound angles for moldings, they can do quite a bit of work.

But, only if they are easy to get to and have a solid station on which to work.

That’s why today’s plan is so great. Made from common construction lumber, the stand is easy to build and can be broken down to be moved to where you are working. If you own a powered miter saw, a project like this is a must.

  1. I’m a sucker for DIY as much as anyone else, but wouldn’t one of the prefab manufacturer’s stands be a lot lighter and just as good, for around the same price? They’re even included free with some of the higher-end mitre saws. I think Home Depot has been giving away a DeWalt stand (probably the DWX723) with the purchase of a DWS780R for a while now.

Of course, if you happen to have most of the scrap pieces just lying around like the guy who authored that plan did, a few bucks and an afternoon is undeniably a lot cheaper than $150-200.

  2. I have Dewalt DW175 miter saw. I have problem with cutting board 45 and 90 degree. Do you sharing tips? I want to décor crib for my daughter next week

  3. Thanks for sharing this projects with us Tom. I’ve bought a new miter saw and I planned to buy a workbench. But it’s quite expensive. I think I can build this Miter Saw Stand.
