OK, most of us build from some type of plan when we go into the shop. Some are commercially available, professionally drawn. Others are developed on the fly. So, what are most of your woodworking projects built from?

How do you develop plans for your projects?

• I only use professionally drawn plans
• I draw up all my plans from scratch
• I build reproductions of existing pieces
• I totally wing it... build off the cuff, I say!
• A little from column 'A', a little from column 'B'...
• Other (please list in comments)

   I use some professionally drawn plans and usually have to modify and correct errors in them. But I draw up a lot of this myself from my own ideas and ideas gleaned from my reading magazines, books, and the intranet.

   I’ve become a fan of Sketchup…. Everything gets a Sketchup model, some more detailed than others…
