Canadian Woodworker Designing a Segmented Bowl
Wood turning is such an awesome skill to develop. Besides that, it’s very fast… you can go from a chunk of wood to a bowl, platter, goblet or some other finished item in no time flat.
But, if you really want to step up your game, you need to try segmented turning. The folks over at Canadian Woodworking have created this landing page that will help you design a segmented bowl with little trouble!
Now that we are in the middle of August, students across the country are starting to dread early morning wake ups, heavy backpacks and homework. Yes, school is about to start (or may have already started where you live), and thoughts are turning to school supplies, bus routes and brown bag lunches.

Living in Florida has its advantages. No need to shovel snow. The beach is only a 10 minute drive away. Oh, and we’re just across the state from the Kennedy Space Center, so we can occasionally just look east and watch rockets launch into the sky. That’s pretty cool.

Sure, Jeff built this for his sons, but I’ve gotta tell you, if I had the chance to build that as my bed, don’t think I wouldn’t take the opportunity. Now, how do I convince Rhonda?
Sure, it’s sunny, warm and green out there now. But, soon, the temperatures will begin to drop. The leaves will change colors. Then, the snow will start to fall (unless, of course, you live in Florida). Then, you will want to start using your wood burning fireplace.
And, that wood will burn more nicely – and be easier to get to – if rain and snow isn’t allowed to fall directly on it. That’s why a woodshed make so much sense.

This Old House’s Cornhole game plan
