Hey, Marvin, take a chill, baby! Count to ten. Go to your happy place. Meditate.

It's noting but good! :-)

Hey, guys, I do have spoke shaves AND scrapers...

I have to pace myself, or what else will I have to write about later? :-)

Very nice article!!

Let me second the notion of spoke shaves. (Perhaps I'm remembering wrong, but I thought you used scrapers - if not - you should - especially on burl and figure)

Spoke shaves are very nice for shaping. You can make arches very quickly with a hand saw, chisel & spoke shave.

Again, great article!!

You need to get some spokeshaves and scrapers Tom, then you can really do some fine tuning. You can practically eliminate sandpaper.

Thanks... that was a fun little project to build.

The Shinto Rasp came from Rockler.... It's pretty beefy and does a great job.

As far as a general purpose... Hmmm... I've had success with some of the Nicholsons you can pick up at the local home improvement center, but that Microplane snap-in set has been my go-to rasp for years now. You can get the whole kit and caboodle at Amazon for about $50... believe me, it works great.

Now, all I have to do is get my hands on a few SCHAWEET Auriou rasps made in France.. those things cut like buttah!

Tom,
What a very nice box. Where did you get the Shinto Rasp? And can you recommend a general purpose rasp?
Thanks,
Dyami
